Crisp Autumn Night, Missing IU!

I am finally thankful again for living in Arizona. The temperatures are back to bearable for a human (70s and 80s). I will be back in Indiana for a few days next weekend (my number hasn't changed, so you can give me a call if you would like). It will be a very short trip, and I am not sure when my next scheduled visit will be (It is possible now I won't be home at Christmas, still TBD).

My mind strays a lot now-a-days and I got to thinking about what I miss most about my Alma Matter, and the greatest institute of higher education, Indiana University. Please note that this list is not in any particular order.

1. Early morning tailgates. I am talking about 12pm kickoffs and getting to the grassy field right next to Woodlawn Ave and 17th St at 7am. I have been to a few schools for tailgating (and football games), but nothing even comes close to the times at the IU games.

2. Men's Basketball games - I know that we have been knocked down, but we are definitely on our way back up. We had some crazy games during my four years there and Assembly Hall can get LOUD. Some of the most passionate fans in all of college basketball.

3. Local Cover Bands - To be more specific, Dave and Rae and Hairbangersball. I miss seeing both of these guys on a Thursday at Jakes or a Saturday at the Bird.

4. While we are talking bars, how about Wednesdays at Sports or Mug night at Jakes?

5. Welcome Week, after you are all settled into your place though.

6. Fridays off thanks to experience in scheduling classes.

7. Spring Break, thanks to help from some Purdue friends as well.

8. The Little 500, the greatest week/weekend in the whole year.

I am sure that there is much, much more, but I am tired and time for bed. Another full week ahead.

Been away awhile

I don't think that anyone actually reads this, but I will make a post anyway. Wow, I haven't updated since May, I guess I will have a lot to talk about.

Lets Start with a couple of visitors that I had over Memorial Day Weekend. Kyle and Maria came out to visit me. Maria might not be the biggest fan of four lokos after the weekend. HAHA. We went up to the Grand Canyon (again), and tried out the light rail for the first time. It was great having someone come out to see me! All are welcome to come out and visit if you want. I have a nice sized place now that I moved!

I got to go home over the fourth of July weekend, and it was much needed. It was great seeing everyone that I had a chance to see. I feel like my visits home are going to be few and far between over the next few years, so it was great to get together with a lot of people.

After getting hired full time I decided to move to a little bit better area of town, but still really close to work. So that is how I got to spend Labor day weekend. I am still in the process of aranging everything that I have and figuring out what I still need to get.

On a brighter note, football season is back in full swing and I have been incredibly busy as of late with work things. Looking a little bit forward, I will be home for the first weekend in November, but not a lot of free time, but would still like to see some friends. Mom, Dad, and Uncle Steve will be coming down around Christmas so I am pretty excited for that.

Now that I have stable internet access I will be able to update a little more often. BYE!

Straight No Chaser

I was reading through the Mad Ant's president's blog the other day and was reading about an A Cappella group that performed at the University of Oregon. I was bored this weekend and was reading about famous people that attended IU, and came across a group I remember hearing about while I was at IU, but never really saw live. The group from IU is called Straight No Chaser. But, the group that was there when I was there is not the original Straight No Chaser.

Apparently the original group has come across some success as of late. They disbanded when they graduated in 1998. However, one of their members decided to post one of their performances on Youtube so that the other members in the group could see it again. However, it became a huge hit topping over 11 million views. Apparently one of the people that saw it is a record producer and offered them a recording deal for 5 CDs.

They are really awesome to see and I think that you should check them out. I know that it is not Christmas time, but I don't think I will remember it by then, so I guess I will post it now.

In other news, my brother surprised me this week and told me that he will be coming down for Memorial Day weekend, with my lovely future sister (in-law). I need to come up with some things to do while they are here. I have been here long enough that I think I can keep them entertained.

Also, I got a new phone today, so If you haven't already, please pass along your phone number to me in some shape or form. Until later, have a good one!

I guess it has been awhile

I guess it has been awhile since I last posted on here. It has been a busy month. My parents came down and visited for the first week of April. We got to go see the Grand Canyon and Sedona. They were both really cool to go see, and I suggest you all do so someday. I guess you could come visit me and I could take you there if you would like.

Work has been very busy over the past week. We released our schedule on Tuesday and then had the draft Thursday-Saturday. I can honestly say that it was one of the most intriguing drafts of recent memory. First off you had a completely new format that led to a bunch of trades, in a draft that was considered to be incredibly deep. It looks like our team still has some holes to fill, but I guess we will have to go back and see who was undrafted or who we can still bring in from free agency. This is also the first time in awhile that the top pick was not signed before the draft, although it was not a surprise that Sam Bradford was taken.

Alright, back to the mound of laundry I have in my little apartment and probably going to go to Ross and pick up some new work clothes (kind of different when it is actually dress clothes instead of carpet cleaning clothes, haha). I will also probably have to go to the grocery store soon. I might just go spend the rest of the day outside, it is a lovely warm April day of course.

Highest Quoted Movies

I was doing my regular rounds on NFL message boards. Yes, that is how boring my life is getting in my free time, but it gives me some good things to talk with clients with. Anyway, I strayed away from the main boards and found a topic on highest quoted movies of all time. They obviously stated the older movies such as Caddyshack, Airplane, Naked Gun, Star Wars, etc. However, those fit no where in what I quote, which is everything.

But seriously I had to start thing about what are the most quoted movies now a days and I think the most obvious one right now is the Hangover.
"Tigers love pepper... they hate cinnamon."
"Would you please put some pants on? I feel weird having to ask you twice"
"Not you fat Jesus"
"Okay, well maybe we should tell that to Rain Man, because he practically bankrupted a casino, and he was a ri-tard."
"Not at the table Carlos"
And obviously you can see that this movie could go on and on.

I think the other movies that get tossed around a lot are Wedding Crashers, Old School, and the Big Lebowski. However I am not going to post all of the ones from these movies. What movies do you find yourself tossing out all of the time? Some other random ones for me could also include Shawshank Redemption or Back to the Future! Haha!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post and that this one was so short, but I have had an incredibly long day and two more long days in a row. Good news for those of you (5 people I believe) that read this is that I know have a camera and will be posting some pictures soon. Stay tuned for those. Good Night Folks, and for those of you who don't know I may be making a trip home in July!

Another weekend gone, and it rains again!

Saturday was amazing weather, High 70s and just loving it. Went out to Mesa to try a Vietnamese place and get Pho. It was very good. Then ended up going out to Scottsdale Saturday night and it was pretty fun. Not my typical bar, but still fun nonetheless.

Of course Sunday, when I was going to go to the Cubs vs Sox, it has to rain all day! Oh well, got to get some housework done, and of course by house work I mean apartment work. Have to start getting ready for my first visitors the first week of April, Mom and pops.

Watching the Oscars tonight and was excited to see the dude, aka Jeff Bridges win an Oscar. I think that this year's oscars is one that I know nothing about because I have seen very few of these films including Avatar and the Blindside, because Netflix hasn't released them yet. And, I don't know who will win best picture yet, but obviously the best picture this year was The Hangover, and it wasn't even nominated.

I will think of some other completely random thing to put up here this week, so be on the lookout, until then stay safe, miss you guys.

Raining on Sunday

Boy for a town that it doesn't rain in, it sure rains a lot. It rained all weekend again. I guess I cannot complain overall about the weather though.

First off, we went to McDuffy's today to watch USA take on Canada, and I am not a huge hockey fan, but I was pulling for the good ole USA. They sure made it a close game and I wish that they would have pulled it out so that I had a miracle on ice to talk about 30 years from now. Oh well, maybe in four years. And by the way, they have these lemon pepper wings which were quite delectable. I am actually glad that the Olympics are over because my shows will be back on now. This week we have a new Modern Family, and Office. In a few weeks FlashForward will be back too.

I couldn't help to check the other tvs during the hockey match and see that Purdue could not hold off Michigan State at home, which if they would have won they might have squeaked in a number one ranking, but thank goodness that they lost! We will probably see Syracuse move into the number one spot.

On to movies, do not rent Knowing with Nicholas Cage, it was terrible. It was interested for the first forty minutes or so, but it goes down hill quickly. On the other hand, I got to see Law Abiding Citizen this weekend and it was a very good movie.

Other than that not to eventful of a weekend, as I said it was kinda of crappy weather. Hopefully I will get to talk to some of you soon!
